Lieferando and CURE launch nationwide cooperation in Germany | CURE connects local pharmacies with digital business models
- Lieferando is expanding its range to include health and care products with the help of the pharmacy platform CURE.
- From today, Lieferando customers can conveniently order over-the-counter medicines to their homes.
- The new service is starting with 60 pharmacies in 18 cities across Germany.
Berlin, 23 October 2024 – Lieferando is now also delivering health and personal care products from pharmacies to customers' homes. To launch the new category, the ordering platform is cooperating with CURE, a health tech start-up from Germany that supports pharmacies in the digitalisation of their offering. The new service will initially be launched with 60 pharmacies in 18 cities, such as Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Cologne, Munich, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Hanover, Darmstadt, Dresden, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Freiburg, Münster, Kassel, Nürnberg, Regensburg and Halle.
At the start, the order selection includes about 500 items: from over-the-counter medicines, to items for short-term replenishment of the medicine cabinet, such as self-tests. Baby food, nutritional supplements as well as special cosmetics and main care products are also included. Lieferando delivers the orders in 45 minutes, mostly by bicycle. A small delivery fee is charged in neighbouring districts, for further distances this varies depending on the distance.
"Our partnership with Lieferando represents a milestone that will further simplify the healthcare sector," explains Ali El-Ali, CEO and co-founder of CURE Group GmbH. "By working together, we can significantly expand our network and help pharmacies to serve millions of Lieferando users directly and conveniently."
"The cooperation with CURE is an important step for Lieferando to further expand our business beyond restaurant deliveries," says Lieferando Managing Director Lennard Neubauer. "To coincide with the start of autumn, we are now also delivering from pharmacies and are systematically expanding our order selection to include express delivery of health and care products for the first time. With our close-knit logistics network throughout Germany, our customers can now also have over-the-counter medicines delivered to their doorstep at short notice."
With this partnership, Lieferando is systematically expanding its platform in Germany to include health and care products for the first time. In addition to household items as well as entertainment and household electronics, the company recently added food and other supermarket products from REWE to its marketplace. The growing selection is intended to make everyday life easier for the approximately 15 million Lieferando users in Germany in more and more areas of their short-term needs.
In unlocking the additional non-food categories, Lieferando's parent company Just Eat Takeaway.com benefits from synergies in the areas of technology, logistics, marketing and customer service. In other countries, JET already cooperates with various partners from the health sector. For example, in Spain with Luda, in the UK with Boots and in the US with CVS Pharmacy. Here, too, the range extends from health and personal care products to hygiene products, baby products and cosmetics.
